Review of Adidas Sportswear: Can Women in Their Middle Years Wear Adidas?

Since I was a teenager, I have worn adidas athletic clothing and shoes. I still have my first pair of Gazelles, which I bought from my mother’s catalog and paid for over the course of a year in installments with money I made from my paper route. They were the iconic brushed black suede style with the infamous three white stripes running down the sides. I believed I was a dog’s breakfast!

But now that I’m a mother of two teenagers who both wear adidas, I’m starting to wonder if it’s socially acceptable for me to be sporting the same brand as my children. Can ladies in their middle age wear adidas? Should women in their middle age wear adidas? I’m about to put it to the test, though. Since I recently joined the adidas blogger community (oh yeah, look at the brand-new emblem on my homepage, teen me has literally just wet herself), I now have some new adidas apparel to review and I want to tell you everything about it.

I chose all green pieces, specifically Shadow Green, as you can see in the photo below, and I am so in love with the result. This shade of green was one of my best colors when I visited a color consultant a few years ago for advice on what hues I should be wearing. However, you don’t often find it in stores, particularly not in sportswear, so when I spotted this wonderful collection, I knew I had to get it right away.

IMPACT TRAINING HIGH-SUPPORT BRA ADIDAS TLRD Because I don’t have much up top, so to speak, I want to start with this very gorgeous sports bra. This means that I haven’t really given the support of the bra I wear while exercising any thought. Having said that, I am completely aware that supporting what you already have is crucial, regardless of how little you have up there. The most supporting sports bra I’ve ever owned is without a doubt this high-support model. Although the sports bra fabric is flexible and soft, it also holds and supports you precisely where you need it to. Even some cushioning is there for those perky breast times. In fact, since we’re talking about material, this product is at least 60% recycled, making it both green and green! It’s also a part of adidas’ unique, moisture-wicking AEROREADY line, which I’ll discuss in more detail in a moment.

If, like me, you enjoy displaying your back muscles, the cross-back straps are extremely appealing. After all, you have to flaunt your best qualities, right? The wire padded straps can be adjusted and don’t dig in, which is a great benefit. The back is secured with four clasp fittings to accommodate different lengths. This is fantastic because I believe the majority of other sports bras I’ve seen just offer three at most. Overall, it feels supportive, but not in a constrictive way; your breasts can still move around freely.

TRAINICONS TANK TOP by ADIDAS This Trainicons tank top workout/running vest meets all the criteria for my dream vest: it’s roomy, long, and breathable. It must, for the most part, be functional for me, but it’s also good when it looks fantastic, right? There are a few aspects of this top’s design and appearance that I like:

The Shade As I’ve already stated, Shadow Green is utterly my color, and the subdued three black stripes provide a classy and more mature touch to the traditional white stripes. As an FYI, it’s also available in White/Pulse Lime and Magic Mauve/White. The Cut Racer-inspired backs are completely my style. I’m not going to lie; the arm holes are loose, so a bra is definitely necessary underneath to keep from displaying more than your athletic abilities. But it is a truly hot appearance when you mix and match it as well as I have with a sports bra in the same color! The Distance Personally, I like tops that extend past my bum so that any possible camel toe issues are hidden. Additionally, I believe it better accentuates my physical features and overall boosts my confidence. The ideal length is this. The Material This shirt is partially made from recycled fabrics and adidas AEROREADY, just like the sports bra. The moisture-wicking technology used by AEROREADY essentially keeps you feeling dry regardless of how much you perspire, making you more comfortable over time. There is nothing worse than a top that is too tight in my opinion, therefore I love how loose it is and how the fabric moves with me while I work out.

OPTIME TRAINICONS 7/8 TIGHTS by ADIDAS A good pair of exercise tights must, in my opinion, have the three Ss.

tripping proof I squat down low because I don’t want my gussets to split! Stretchy They must allow me to travel freely and not impede it. Stupidity factor Not going to lie, I want them to make me look thinner. I want clean lines, no VPL. This girl is overjoyed because these Optime Trainicons tights have all three going on. You see, it’s not exactly simple to find pants that fit me. I have a traditional pear shape, which means that my bum and hips are wide, my waist is tight, and my bottom is larger than my top. Trying to find pants that fit me in all the appropriate places while yet allowing my blood to flow freely is a nightmare—this is especially important when doing out! This gorgeous pair of shoes fit perfectly. They’re incredibly strong, incredibly elastic, incredibly suckyinny (good term!) and, most importantly, they make me feel amazing. Which is really significant, yes? I firmly believe that you are more likely to perform at your best if you feel and look amazing. A confidence issue. You won’t feel as driven to exercise if you show up at the gym wearing a pair of dingy, droopy, greying leggings as if you are wearing clothes that fit and look well on you.

There is no need to be concerned about any see-through pant issues because the fabric is sturdy and resilient. They also meet important mom characteristics like washing and drying rapidly. However, they are also available in Black, Dark Grey Heather, Legacy Burgundy, and Magic Mauve. Once more, I chose them in Shadow Green. The internal rear of the waistband also has a hidden pocket for items like a key, tissues, dog poop bags, snacks, etc.

The subtlety of the iconic adidas three stripes in black, which puts a terrific modern spin on a classic and makes them both functional and fashionable, truly appeals to me. I’d wear these to work out in, but I’d also pair them with a hoodie to lounge around in. Oh, and the high waist must be mentioned because I adore a pair of trousers with a high waist. It provides a much more svelte form, holds you in and makes you feel supported.

SHOES ADIDAS NY 90 Since I was a teenager, as I indicated at the outset, I have loved adidas trainers , and even at the ripe old age of 43, I continue to like them. I can wear them with anything, including dresses, jeans, shorts, and athletics. In my opinion, these specific sneakers offer great value for the money because they are so versatile—after all, I am a mother!—and can be dressed up or down.

They’re plush, cozy, fashionable, and make a statement without being over the top. In my opinion, they really convey something about the wearer. I’m sure I’ll wear these nonstop throughout the spring and summer. I especially adore the subtle pink and black accents that give the shoes a touch of flair. Although I chose the Cloud White/Cloud White/Clear Pink color scheme, they are also offered in 5 other color combinations: Cloud White/Cloud White/Cream White, Cloud White/Cloud White/Dust Purple, Cloud White/Cloud White/Calvi, Cloud White/Cloud White/Almost Lime, and Cloud White/Cloud White/Sandy Beige. Before choosing your color, I think it’s really worth considering what you’re going to wear them with, but other than that, I say go for it.

These shoes, like the other products I chose, are constructed of a variety of recycled materials. The upper of the shoes contains at least 50% recycled material, which is a terrific example of how adidas is contributing to the reduction of plastic waste.

So, IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN TO WEAR ADIDAS SPORTSWEAR? Of course she can, I mean, just take a look at me! Who cares if my kids look silly? Since, let’s face it, I can hardly breathe these days without making folks uncomfortable, I’m never going to prevail in that conflict. We middle-aged women are more physically fit, assertive, and stronger than ever. If sporting adidas athletic clothing may us showcase our absolute best selves, then by golly, I think we should all start wearing it.

I believe that the adidas brand has matured with me as I transitioned from an awkward adolescent to the confident adult I am today. I dress in ways that not only make me feel good about myself but also make me feel powerful, capable, and supported while I’m wearing them. They also have to be fashionable. And adidas is that. With or without anyone else’s approval, this middle-aged mother will undoubtedly continue to wear it. Let me tell you, this is not an embarrassing situation at all!
